Class at Brown

In Fall 2001 I taught a one semester class at Brown University "Mathematics of optical communications" (AMS 281). As I was developing the course during the summer 2001, my aim was to provide background knowledge during the first half of the course and to discuss current research questions in the second half. The students learned both how to apply analytical methods and how to model complicated fiber lines by doing numerical simulations. The course notes are constantly updated, but please feel free to download the current version. Questions, remarks or comments? All feedback is highly appreciated! Please send me an email (tobiass@amath.unc.edu).
PIMS-MITACS in Victoria

Here you find the lecture notes for the project "Modeling nonlinear pulse propagation in optical transmission lines" for the PIMS-MITACS Graduate Mathematics Modelling Camp in Victoria, BC, May 2004. Questions, remarks or comments? All feedback is highly appreciated! Please send me an email (tobiass@amath.unc.edu).
