Adding a network printer to a Windows XP machine.

From the start menu, select Printers and Faxes.

Click on Add a printer

Click Next

Check the network printer circle, then click next.

Check the Connect to this printer check box and enter \\asnt3\printer name for example, ph311hp5500dn is available as \\asnt3\ph311hp5500dn (list of printer names or mount \\asnt3 to view a list of all the available printers)

If are already logged into the ASNTDOMAIN1 domain, proceed to the next step. Otherwise you will be prompted to enter your domain account (in the format asntdomain1\ONYEN and your College of Arts and Sciences password).

It may take a few minutes but the printer drivers are now installed on your machine and you should be prompted to make this printer your default printer.

The default is no. Select Yes if you would like this printer to be your default.

You are now finished. The printer will now show up in your available printers list as PrinterName on asnt3.
