Installing Retrospect Client on your machine

First download the retrospect setup.exe from here.  The following instructions are for Windows, but the Linux install is very similar (just rpm).

Then run the retrospect setup.exe

Click next

Choose the location that you want retrospect to be installed and click next

Enter in a password for Retrospect, it has to be 4 or more characters long, and click next.

This password SHOULD NOT be the same as any of your other system passwords.

After the install is done then click finish to complete the install.

After the installation is complete, submit a work request ticket to the Amath Systems Support at http://www.amath.unc.edu/sysadmin/submit-ticket.html

Include the hostname (and IP address) for the system you would like backed up as well as the initial password you used in the setup.

If the system you would like backedup is a laptop, please include that information in the work request ticket.  Laptops are backed up during the day when the server sees the sytem on the network.  In order for the Proactive backup service to backup your laptop, make sure that the client is ON and

that under the Proactive Backup tab, you've selected As soon as possible.
